Presentation Summary – “Mental health needs often go unaddressed, especially among men in the US. Bringing together psychological and theological insights, Rev. Phillip Bass will offer a presentation and discussion on men’s mental health. Through stories from working in the mental health field for over a decade, Phillip will share information about the importance of attending to men’s mental health issues. His presentation will bring together the latest statistics in mental health, how to address mental health needs, including suicidal ideation, and sacramental psychology.”
Bio – Rev. Phillip Bass is currently the founding priest of The Beloved Community at The Trees in Durham. This is a community dedicated to providing healing ministries to individuals outside of a traditional church setting, especially for those who have experienced religious trauma. Father Phillip previously served as the Associate Rector of The Church of the Nativity, Raleigh, NC. In addition to his pastoral role, he is also a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and has a private practice in Chapel Hill, NC. In his clinical work, Phillip often addresses religious trauma, deconstruction, and questions of faith, especially among the LGBTQIA+ community and others. Phillip is excited to return to St. John’s where both his husband, J, and son, Brock, were baptized. See you Oct. 5th!
Peace,
