Mission & Values

St. John’s welcomes people of all ages into our community life and worship! While we aim for most of our life and work together to be as age inclusive as possible, we do offer some programs specifically designed to meet the developmental needs of young people.

Mission: St. John’s Children’s Ministry exists to create spaces where children have opportunities to 1) experience God, 2) build loving relationships with each other and community members of diverse ages, and 3) give generously from their God-given gifts and passions (in the form of time, talent, and treasure) to our church community and the larger world.

Values: We will work towards our mission in ways that are intergenerational, sustainable, collaborative, mutual (with children rather than only for children), empowering, and contextual (based on the gifts, passions, and needs of this community).

Annual Children & Family Events

Children’s Holy Communion Retreat

All children (K – 5th grade) are invited to join a Saturday morning retreat held at St. John’s each spring during the season of Lent. This retreat helps children grow in their understanding of what Holy Communion means and to experience it as a gift and a joy.

Christmas Pageant

St. John’s offers a 4:00 pm service of Holy Eucharist on Christmas Eve each year. This service includes the annual retelling of the story of Jesus’ birth. Children, youth, and adults are welcome to participate by arriving by 3:30 pm and dressing up as sheep, shepherds, angels, wise people, or a member of the Holy Family.
