Shrove Tuesday Pancake Suppers are a “Feast before the Fast” of Lent. Traditionally, Christian families would use up all the sugar and butter in the house by making pancakes for dinner on the night before Ash Wednesday when Lenten fasting begins.
Join us for Pancake Supper hosted by St. John’s Youth Group on Feb. 21 from 5PM – 7PM in the Parish Hall. We will have a dinner of pancakes, sausage, bacon, fruit and beverages! Any donations the night of the supper are appreciated and will be used to benefit our youth program.
We still need a few pancake flippers and a few griddles to use (please deliver by 2/15). Go to the Signup Genius if you’d like to contribute! Donations will benefit our youth program. Come and enjoy pancakes, bacon, and sausage along with fantastic fellowship!
During our Shrove Tuesday Celebration…
at 6PM we will have a chance to “bury the Alleluias” followed by a short family-friendly Imposition of Ashes. Alleluia coloring sheets will be available during the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper when we will say “goodbye” by burying them in the Church Yard to be resurrected on Easter Morning when we can say Alleluia again!
The Imposition of Ashes is an excellent way for Children to be introduced to Lent and Ash Wednesday and an opportunity for those who cannot be at one of our Ash Wednesday offerings to receive Ashes and begin their Lenten journey.

Full Liturgy in the Sanctuary with streaming.
The Church calls us to the keeping of a Holy Lent through repentance (re-turning to the Lord) and renewing disciplines of prayer, fasting, and alms-giving. Lent is a time to walk more closely with Jesus on his journey through life, death, and ultimately, resurrection. We begin this Lenten walk with Jesus, receiving ashes on our foreheads as a reminder of our mortality and humility before God who created us “from the dust of the earth.”
Families with young children may wish to receive Imposition of Ashes at the short service at 6 PM on Shrove TUESDAY during the Pancake Supper (the day before Ash Wednesday).
