Beloved Community

Study, educate, pray and take action toward MLK’s dream of racial justice and reconciliation. This group is open to all in our parish. It meets about every two months for intensive study and conversation on topics such as white privilege, the problem of mass incarceration, and immigration; and they are leaders in our parish efforts to build Beloved Community with our Wake Forest neighbors across traditional boundaries of class, race, and religion. St. John’s Supper Club

Twice per year, small groups of 7-10 people are formed and then meet monthly for several months in various homes or go out together for dinner or lunch. This is a fun and easy way to meet other parishioners and build new friendships. Supper clubs are on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sign up to be notified when meetings and events resume.

Sojourners

(Wednesday adult formation series)

A series of short (3-6 week) topical studies or Bible studies offered most Wednesdays, September to May. Wednesday evenings in St. John’s Parish Hall. Dinner is served at 5:30 pm for $7. Program begins at 6:00 pm. Children’s Choir rehearses concurrently at 6:00 pm. We end with a short Compline service (night prayers) at 7:15 pm. SAGEs

(Senior Adults Growing and Exploring)

Seniors 60+ gather monthly on the 3rd Wednesday, most often for worship at 11:45 am, then lunch, with an educational or entertaining presentation to follow. The group takes occasional outings as well. This group is on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic. Sign up to be notified when in-person meetings and events resume.

Led by our 2020/2021 Curate, Mawethu Ncaca, this group meets most weeks on Thursday from noon to 1:00 pm to pray and discuss the lessons for the coming Sunday and bring context and depth to our encounter with these passages on Sunday. Register here to join the online discussion via Zoom.
