Adult Formation Classes
January 15 & 22 @ 6:30 PM
January is a time of reflecting on the life of Martin Luther King Junior. He was a Baptist minister and civil rights leader. Often celebrated only as a civil rights activist, we barely hear about his love for the church and for God. His name is on the boulevards of every town but rarely do we see his status associated with his Christian beliefs. His philosophy of non-violence is hardly mentioned as a viable option in a gun-crazy and violent society.
This January, St. John’s in collaboration with Olive Branch Baptist Church in Wake Forest, we will do a reflective reading on MLK’s letter to the church (and society) from a Birmingham jail.
St. John’s parishioners, you are cordially invited to this reflective reading to celebrate Rev. King spread over two Wednesdays.
Part one will be on Wednesday, January 15th at Olive Branch Baptist Church (326 E. Juniper Ave., Wake Forest) and then part two will be on January 22nd at St. John’s in the Parish Hall from 6:30-8 PM. |
