A Prayer Calendar for Creation Season 2023 is available for you to pick up from the table in the Narthex starting this Sunday. This calendar was created by Julie Arthur, Creation Care Leader, and is designed to enrich your spiritual journey by guiding your daily prayers towards creations of God.
As you utilize this calendar, you will find daily prompts to reflect upon and pray for the wonders of nature that surround us. Each day presents an opportunity to connect with God’s creations in a profound and meaningful way.
During this Creation Season, we encourage you to engage even more deeply with the natural world around us. Plan a visit to our Native Teaching Plants Garden (outside the Education Building), where you can witness the vital work of bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. These creatures play a crucial role in sustaining the foods we cherish and enjoy. Also consider exploring other pollinator gardens in our local area, such as Forest Ridge Park, WCPE, and Holding Park.
For a truly enriching experience, why not arrange a picnic under the shade of the ancient oak tree located at the west end of our church building? While there, take a moment to collect acorns or create a tree rubbing, allowing you to marvel at the oak’s role in supporting a diverse ecosystem for countless generations. This remarkable oak has provided a habitat for over 600 species of wildlife, including 280 insect species, as well as birds, squirrels, raccoons, and possums. Its legacy of life and sustenance spanning millions of years is a testament to the intricate balance of creation.
We hope that this calendar and the activities suggested within it will help you find deeper meaning in your daily prayers and foster a renewed connection with the wonders of God’s creation.
