Driven by the Spirit…Out in the Wilderness…
Last week’s TAPESTRY service message focused on Luke 4:1-13: “The Temptation of Jesus.” We learned how God tries to pull us in the direction of doing what is “right”, but at the same time, the Devil is on the opposite side, pulling us towards the direction of “wrong,” and what better way to illustrate this than our intense “TEMPTATION TUG-OF-WAR” Intergenerational Activity.
The 40 days and 40 nights that Jesus spent in the wilderness were brought to life on the TAPESTRY stage with our resident actress and actor portraying the Holy Spirit and Jesus traveling through the desert (complete with a towering cactus!)
And, as the Devil presented 3 Temptations to Jesus, each time, we heard Jesus respond with the WORD of GOD: “A person does NOT live by bread alone; but by everything the LORD says…”
“Do not test the LORD your GOD,” and…“You must worship the LORD your GOD, and serve only Him.” Jesus faced temptation; it was difficult; and He know what it’s like when we are challenged and…struggling in our daily lives.
When we are tempted, let’s do the “RIGHT” thing…let’s love, serve, obey, pray, and remember GOD’S WORDS, just as Jesus did+
