A message from the Strategic Design Team
Since the end of October St. John’s Strategic Design Team (SDT) has been working hard to formulate a Mission and Values statement and 3-Year Goals for our parish that will guide our identity and direction as we move forward as a parish.
We have strived be faithful to, and to articulate, the essence of St. John’s, while setting a goals framework for healthy life as a larger parish. Please click below to read the Mission, Values, and Goals Statement. The Vestry and SDT welcome your comments and questions at Part 2 of our Annual Parish Meeting this Sunday, Jan 30 after our 9:30 AM service, and/or via the online form provided below. The meeting will be online at Zoom and YouTube using the same links we use for the worship service.
The Strategic Design Team has attempted to weave together all of the input from a parish-wide Mission and Vision e-questionnaire in early October, along with the intense brainstorming provided by 35 parish leaders at the Vision Summit in late October; and we’ve been examining all of that data in light of the tremendous energy and enthusiasm exhibited in so many ministry areas. We have incorporated input from leaders of the various ministry areas articulated in the goals, and have sought to ensure that the goals are realistic and truly reflect the nature and direction of those ministries.
We hope we have been faithful to our collective hopes and dreams for how we all live the Gospel together. While our Mission, Values, and Goals are as inclusive and encompassing as we could make them, we could not touch on every single ministry. Even if a ministry is not specifically mentioned here, like our liturgical guilds and adult formation ministries, for example, these ministries still play a foundational role in pursuing our mission. Our Mission, Values, and Goals simply help point us in the direction we sense God calling us so we may better row the boat in the same direction!
While the Vestry has not yet had the opportunity to fully consider this Mission, Values and Goals statement, we know it is time for our parishioners to begin to see the fruit of the extensive input given to us this fall. Our Mission, Values, and Goals statement will continue to be subject to change as our Vestry considers its final adoption, prioritizes the goals for implementation, and devotes resources for implementation. We promise to keep you posted as we continue this wonderful work in the name and love of Christ.
This comes with Love,
