It’s spring – let’s plant some stewardship seeds and see what grows!
The Stewardship Committee has declared a campaign to “Defeat the Deficit”. As you may know, when our Finance Committee presented the 2024 budget in January, we had a gap between the amount budgeted and pledged to the amount we need to fully fund our financial needs this year.
The Stewardship Committee is going to focus on a number of events throughout the year where through individual gifts or family contributions we can close the gap on our budget deficit.
During the month of May, we are going to distribute cardboard gift boxes for families to take home for a 30-day campaign. We are hoping your kids will also be excited about the opportunity to contribute their offerings to St. Johns through the gift boxes.
There are a variety of ways to participate in the challenge – these are just some ideas. Feel free to create your own!
· 31 days to $31 – drop a dollar in your collection box every day for the month of May
· 31 days to a surprise offering – collect change throughout the month of May and be surprised by how much you collect
· 31 days of skipping Starbucks coffee ($5) or McDonalds tea or coke ($2) for a total of $155 or $62
· 31 days to $496 – day 1 – $1.00, day 2 – $2.00, day 3 – $3.00. If you increase by a dollar a day, you’ll have $496 at the end of 31 days.
We will have collection boxes to distribute to our congregation later in the month. Please join the Stewardship Committee in our “Defeat the Deficit” challenge.
