“Awesome is God in his sanctuary, the God of Israel; he gives power and strength to his people. Blessed be God!” Psalm 68:35
Can you feel the incredible energy in the air at St. John’s? It’s AWESOME! God’s presence is heard/felt/seen in all things and the excitement that is generated for worship, formation, outreach, education abounds, and we offer up praise and thanksgiving!
That AWESOMENESS of our God leads a fantastic opportunity for the ministry of children and youth in the month of June as St. John’s offers the 2nd Annual Summer Camp:
AWESOME ARTS ADVENTURES
This weeklong camp will host a variety of musical and visual arts opportunities for families within our parish and to all within the Wake Forest community and beyond. Wondering what last year’s camp experience was like? Read on as 2022 Arts Campers, Leaders, Assistants share their reflections:
“I enjoyed how creative I was allowed to be in the art class. I loved learning how to play the ukulele. The teachers were so nice and made it easy for me. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone this year!”
—Reagan B., camper
“Volunteering last summer with St. John’s first-ever Art and Music camp was such a privilege. Not only did I get to meet some truly wonderful young people, but I also was able to see our own creative artists–Suzi, Marcia, and Cliff–at work in an entirely different setting. Their collective creativity, balanced with very effective organizational skills and enduring humor, made the week go by so quickly. Plus, I also learned how to play the ukulele alongside the children. I’m looking forward to this summer’s camp too, especially to see (and hear) those drummers drumming!” —–Helen H., assistant
“The summer arts camp was amazing! I loved getting to help and watch all the kids get excited about music. This was absolutely the highlight of my 2022 summer!” —–Rebecca O., camper
“What a delight to watch and assist youth in finding their creative side! No matter the task, they dive in without doubt or hesitation. It is so fulfilling to share my gifts and see others enjoy art as much as I do. I can’t wait for this summer to try new things!” —–Suzi H., visual arts instructor
“I really liked camp last summer because of all the fun times I had with the other kids who attended, and the Ukulele is easy and awesome to learn! You can play so many things on it! I really liked it and I’m excited to go to camp again this summer.” —–Sam P., camper
“As a former teacher and participant of the Ukulele Summer Camp 2022, I was impressed with the way the time spent together was geared to children’ attention span and music lessons were broken down into small steps so all different ages and musical abilities could succeed. Most importantly, the time together was fun for children participating and adults assisting.” —–Kenille B., assistant
“Going to the 2022 Ukulele Arts Camp was really, really fun. I made new friends, discovered the joys of print-making, and learned how to play ukulele. I loved the ukulele so much, that I saved up money and bought my own and started taking lessons. So a big thank you to Mrs. Marcia for putting that wonderful week together!” —–Aubrey S., camper
Just imagine the arts ministry that St. John’s will offer in 2023. Register to be a camper; sign up to be an assistant; offer prayers for this event. Soli Deo Gloria!
