Hi! I’m JJ Renfrow and I’m a member of the St.John’s youth group. Two members of my Girl Scout troop and I are working on our Silver Award community project, creating an LGBTQ+-centered little library in downtown Wake Forest. Silver Award is the second-highest award you can earn in Girl Scouts, with Gold Award being the highest and equivalent to an Eagle Scout in Boy Scouts.
We chose this project because I am part of the LGBTQ+ community and I am witnessing firsthand how many challenges we are facing and how this is affecting our community. And I know something that can be very helpful is being able to see people like you represented. We are currently working on collecting books for the library and our collection bin is located at Page 158 in downtown Wake Forest. Many thanks to the Page 158 team for supporting our project and for offering a 10% discount on books you buy to support the library. You can buy books in person at Page 158 or online here at page158books.com or by calling them at 919-435-1843 and letting them know it’s for the little library. Page 158 staff are happy to help you select inclusive books.
We must complete our project in September and would like to have books in hand by Sept. 17th. I would also love to say thank you to Heritage Florals for agreeing to be the location of the library itself. If you have any questions, feel free to email me at ginywez1y@gmail.com. Thank you so much!
