Growing Together Pilot Program, January – May 2021
Restoring Faith, Justice, Creation
Growing Together is a free program, toolkit, and community building resource, designed for the church. The program engages congregations in faith-based conversations for practical applications of environmental healing and justice, in church and home contexts.
Developed alongside advisors at Yale’s Forum on Religion and Ecology and Oxford University’s Laudato Si’ Institute, the Growing Together Program connects the dots between faith, science, and creation care. This program is free for churches and welcomes people from all parts of the Christian family.
Growing Together is currently conducting a pilot program that is open to all member of St. John’s. This pilot is designed to help churches on the journey of restoring faith, justice, and creation. Each session (1 hour each) will feature talks from leading theologians and scientists, inspiring stories, facilitated heart-led conversation, and tools for practical implementation.
There are currently 40 churches across the country from 10 denominations participating in the pilot.
Details:
- 5 Sessions (2nd Thurs each month, 7 p.m. EST, on Zoom)
Jan. 14th – Intro: Faith, Science & Creation Care
Feb. 11th – Eating: Theology of Food
Mar. 11th – Purchasing: Living Simply & Justly
Apr. 8th – Recycling: Soil & Compost
May 13th – Growing: Pulling it Together - If you can’t make the live session(s), register anyway and a link to the recording of the session(s) will be e-mailed to you.
- If you can’t make it to all of the sessions, register anyway and do what you can/want (there’s a lot going on these days, we get it)
- You only need to register once for the series
